I was assigned to lead a hike for Long Trail Day up to Jay Peak.  I hadn’t been there in a while and the weather up north looked good for the day so I was excited to be back.  I had a good-sized group of hikers of various ages and speeds but everyone meshed well together and we made good time up the Long Trail from Jay Pass at Route 242.  It’s steep for sure, and rocky, but overall not too difficult.

Once we popped out of the hiking trail onto the ski trail, the views abounded.  We continued following the white blazes of the Long Trail up the rocks instead of up the ski trail to the summit at 3858′ after 1.7 miles.

It was a beautiful day and lots of people were at the summit since you can take a tram up during the summer.  We enjoyed the views while having a snack and then went back down the trail the way we’d come.

Almost everyone came out to finish the evening at Kingdom Brewing nearby with good drinks, good food, and some live music.  Great day!
