PCT Done!

I hiked out 7.5 miles to Highway 66 this morning, finishing my PCT hike. What started as a nobo thru hike in April turned into a flip flop when I hurt my foot in August and had to take some time off. I flipped up to do Washington nobo and flopped back to do Oregon sobo. Instead of ending at a border monument, my 2,650 miles ended at a small highway outside of Ashland. April 16 – October 22. PCT done.

Just as I got to the road, two men pulled in across the street to start a day hike. I asked if they’d take my picture since I just finished my thru hike, and it turned out they were former thru hikers too. Dennis and Jerry then insisted on driving me all the way to the Medford airport to pick up my rental car: an awesome bit of trail magic to end the trip!

I stopped at McDonald’s, of course, drove to Eugene to shower and do laundry at Whisper and Mailman’s house, got a haircut, and had dinner with Whisper and Comet and NotABear. Tomorrow morning I will drive to Portland for breakfast with Sean and my flight back east.

I am ready to be done walking for now. I’m sure in two weeks or less, I’ll be wanting to be walking again. Post trail updates to follow over the next few weeks. But for now, in the words of Forrest Gump:
