We successfully made it out of town this morning and were back on the trail a little after 10:00. It was hot and humid and we were skirting a storm all day but never actually got rained on. We did 15.2 miles to Dicks Dome Shelter and are camped there. A troop of boy scouts is camped nearby being very loud and small groups of them keep coming over to tromp around.
We ran into Brother Bear today and he convinced us to do the four state challenge coming up, hiking from Virginia through West Virginia and Maryland to Pennsylvania in one day, about 40 miles. We are still figuring out the logistics because we want to slackpack but it should be cool. Then there are some 4th of July plans for after that so it will be an interesting week.
