I’m staying in Conway, NH, this week for a course I’m taking.  Of course, I always knew Conway was a great location for accessing the White Mountains, but there are also a ton of nice little trails leaving right from/near town.  We needed a break from studying so went out to hike White Ledge, a 4.4-mile loop just south of town.  The trailhead is in White Ledge Campground on NH 16 and there is a small parking lot for non-campers.

We took the loop counterclockwise, gradually winding our way up through the woods.  We made it to the ledges just as the sun was setting and got some partial views of that to the north and west.  Once over the summit at 2010′, there was a nice view of Mount Chocorua’s profile.  We tried to break but the bugs were so bad, we didn’t stay long.  We kept going on the loop, getting back into the woods before full dark.  It wasn’t long before we had to pull our headlamps out.  The trail was a little confusing in the dark in a few wet places but the way was always found.
