I missed my alarm this morning, or rather, I ignored it. Once I made it out of camp, there was a climb up to the base of Castle Crags, and then a traverse over to the ridge across from it.
It was still very hazy, and just got worse throughout the day, the smokiest I’ve seen it. I was ridge walking most of it, and this section is supposed to be gorgeous, but I can’t actually see any views. I’m afraid that this is what the rest of the month is going to look like.
I stopped to cook dinner early at a nice piped spring, and then I made it to Deadfall Lakes just before dark. They were super crowded with section hikers but we eventually found a spot to camp on the upper lake. 26.2 miles today.
Aww man. Hope the smoke clears!
Ugh!
