My friend Jigsaw is starting a 1,000 Mile Outdoor Challenge – one thousand miles of running, hiking, biking, snowshoeing, whatever-it-is-as-long-as-it’s-activity-outside-ing, in one year.
I love challenges like this, and I love lists and tracking things, so I’m signing up too! Because I am the type of person who creates a To Do list with something I’ve already accomplished that day on it in order to start with a nice little check mark (Make To Do List. Check!), I am saying my year starts on April 1st. I will update weekly-ish on how many miles I’ve been doing and what they were comprised of. I have some adventures coming up this year that will make it more than possible for me to get over 1,000 miles in so really what I am tracking is how long it takes me to get to 1,000, and how much more than that I can do in a one year time period. Last year, I definitely did 2,185.9 miles, but I would bet my total number was at least 2,500.
So without further ado, let’s get started:
Week 1
28 miles:
23 hiking
5 biking
Don’t worry, a spreadsheet will be shared at the end of the challenge.
Okay, because I’m totally an asshole, I didn’t know you decided to do the challenge also. Way to go! You’re way ahead of me right now, haha.
