Manchester Center

It rained overnight again but stopped by the time I got out of my tent. It was very easy hiking again too and my foot felt even better than yesterday since I managed to avoid hitting it today. I did the 9.2 miles back to the road to Manchester Center pretty quickly and then hitched into town to get some burgers and make a few phone calls.

I finally connected with Stretch, who is still behind me and having her own foot issues, since we were both in towns with our phones on. Even though I am hiking just fine with the hospital shoe, if a bit slow, I decided I should probably take more than one zero for a broken bone, so I am going to wait for Stretch and Little Bear to catch up in a couple of days, and Greg is going to slackpack us for a little while after that.

Hopefully the rest will let my toe heal a bit and we can make up some miles while slacking. If we are still moving too slowly, we are open to the idea of jumping ahead and coming back to this section later, or flipping up to Maine and going south. It’s still possible to not have to do that though, we will see.

Done with phone calls, I went to a local outfitter to charge my phone a bit and then headed back to the trail to camp.

  1. It’s all about the journey, not the destination. You have had so much fun and met so many cool people. 🙂 nbd if you have to skip ahead. I’m cheering you on every day.

I don’t know as I have ever seen a dirty girl gaitor over a hospital boot.
