I lazed around this morning, enjoying the hostel, and got back on the trail after 11:00. Even with the late start, I still made it 11.7 miles with an almost 2 MPH average pace again. Hooray for being out of the Whites! Mount Hayes and Cascade Mountain still had steep and rocky sections but nothing as bad as what I’ve been hiking through lately.
It was chilly out again today, but more like autumn than winter. I had to constantly adjust layers to keep at a good temperature while hiking. I am currently setup in the Gentian Pond Shelter. I hear there are lots of moose sightings at the pond early in the day.
